Forecast Discussion

Product: Forecast Discussion Issued: 2019 Nov 08 1230 UTC Prepared by the U.S. Dept. of Commerce, NOAA, Space Weather Prediction Center
Solar Activity
.24 hr Summary… Solar activity was very low and no sunspots were observed on the visible disk. No Earth-directed CMEs were detected in available coronagraph imagery.
.Forecast… Very low solar activity is expected to continue 08-10 Nov.
Energetic Particle
.24 hr Summary… The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at moderate levels and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux maintained background values.
.Forecast… The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to reach high levels 08-10 Nov and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to continue at background levels.
Solar Wind
.24 hr Summary… Solar wind parameters were indicative of a return to an ambient-background like state. Total IMF strength ranged primarily from 2 to 4 nT and the Bz component underwent only weak deviations. Solar wind speed decreased from near 400 km/s to 325-350 km/s and the phi angle was predominantly positive.
.Forecast… A slow solar wind regime is expected to continue 08-09 Nov. An SSBC, followed by early influences of a negative polarity CH HSS may cause slightly disturbed and enhanced conditions on 10 Nov.
Geospace
.24 hr Summary… The geomagnetic field was quiet.
.Forecast… The geomagnetic field is expected to remain quiet 08-09 Nov. The anticipated disturbance in the solar wind field on 10 Nov may lead to later periods of unsettled conditions, with a likely period of active conditions.
