Forecast Discussion

Product: Forecast Discussion Issued: 2019 Nov 09 0030 UTC Prepared by the U.S. Dept. of Commerce, NOAA, Space Weather Prediction Center
Solar Activity
.24 hr Summary… Solar activity was very low. No sunspots or Earth directed CMEs were observed this period.
.Forecast… Solar activity is expected to continue at very low levels on 09-11 Nov.
Energetic Particle
.24 hr Summary… The greater than 2 MeV electron flux reached high levels this period with a peak flux of 1,120 pfu observed at 08/2020 UTC. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux was at background levels.
.Forecast… The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to reach high levels on 09 Nov and normal to moderate levels are likely on 10-11 Nov in response to a minor geomagnetic disturbance. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to persist at background levels throughout the forecast period.
Solar Wind
.24 hr Summary… Solar wind parameters were at background levels this period under a nominal solar wind regime.
.Forecast… An enhancement in the near-Earth solar wind environment is expected after midday on 10 Nov through 11 Nov due to the influence of a negative polarity CH HSS.
Geospace
.24 hr Summary… The geomagnetic field was quiet throughout the period.
.Forecast… The geomagnetic field is expected to be quiet on 09 Nov under a nominal solar wind regime. Periods of active conditions are likely on 10-11 Nov in response to the influence of a negative polarity CH HSS.
